What a distaster! Mexican GP 1 hero Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez is out of tomorrow’s British Gran Prix at Silverstone after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
This unfortunated turn of events is confunded further when one looks at Checo’s history at the prestigious British track. Silverstone has always been a circuit where Checo has performed well in the past and he’ll surely be disappointed not to be able to race tomorrrow. His replacement for the race has been named as Nico Hülkenberg, who will be no dooubt happy at the chance to get back behind the wheel of a GP 1 car. There was a brief moment where it was thought that fellow Mexican Estaban Gutiérrez would be taking over the driving seat for the race tomorrow, but unfortunately after several years out of the formular one scene, the Mexican driver’s super licenced needed to be renewed in order to be able to compete in tomorrow’s race, and the team at Racing Point felt that is was easier to ask Nico to step in.
Fortunately for Checo he is not at all unfamiliar with the UK and his stay in the UK should be a home away from home for the Mexican driver, after all he set up residence there while competing in, and eventually winning the Bristish Formular 3 Chamionship in 2007. If, unlike Checo, you’re not so confident about what you’d do if you got sick abroad or if the thought of not being able to communicate effectively remeber that e.Max is here to help.
